‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Cast: Netflix’s Marvel Television Universe Adding Bullseye

We’re still shaken up by the universe-altering events from Avengers: Infinity War, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes on. Elsewhere in Marvel Studios, the Netflix-Marvel superhero is gearing up for his third season. Despite having seemingly dying by the end of The Defenders, the new Daredevil season is currently filming. And it seems it’s found a Bullseye!
According to The Hashtag Show, Netflix has found its Bullseye in Wilson Bethel. While Bethel was announced as part of the cast back in November, he was said to be an FBI agent. Marvel Television refused to hand out any more information, which pointed to the character being important. It appears the site has found out from elsewhere that Bethel will be playing a version of the assassin.
Bethel is best known for his roles in Hart of Dixie and The Astronaut Wives Club. While he might be the main villain of season 3, he’s not the only new addition to the cast. GeekTyrant reports that Joanne Whalley, from The Borgias and Gossip Girl, will take on the role of Daredevil’s mother.
The season’s arc is said to be based on Frank Miller’s 1980 comics Born Again storyline.
Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock, after the character’s seeming death in his last MCU appearance. Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson are also still around. Even better, Vincent D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk.
While the film side of the MCU has been criticized for its mostly uninteresting villains, Netflix-Marvel has served great ones. D’Onofrio’s Fisk is both fascinating and terrifying, and at least up there with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. David Tennant’s rendition of Purple Man/Kilgrave is another jewel. While The Hand got old pretty quickly, individual villains have been mostly amazing so far. Why would Bullseye be the exception?
Of course, this won’t be the first time Daredevil villain Bullseye gets the live-action treatment. In the infamous 2003 Daredevil film starring Ben Affleck, Irish actor Colin Farrell took on the role.
While there’s no official release date for Daredevil season 3, it’s set to premiere sometime this fall.
